We’ve been doing the London to Brighton Kit to Sports Car Run for many years now, and it’s an event we wouldn’t miss. Judging by the familiar faces we see each year, we’re not the only ones. But if you’ve never been on the run before, why not make 2018 the year you give it a try?
Organisers GE Classic Motor Events choose a rural route from the capital to Madeira Drive in Brighton that takes you through some of the south east’s lesser known roads, off the beaten track and away from the traffic.
Places fill quickly, so it’s worth booking early. If you enter the competition and are lucky
enough to win having already paid for a place, GE Classic Motor Events will refund your entry fee.
For 2018, the run begins at Greenwich Park. This World Heritage Site is significant as it represents the Prime Meridian line from which every place on earth is measured to set the clock. There will be time for participants to explore the venue before being waved off to follow a tulip diagram to Madeira Drive, where spectators can come and see the seafront car show for free. The mid-way stopping point is the picturesque Chiddingstone Castle with entry to see the collections of art and antiquities in the house.
The entry fee is £97.50 for a car and two people and includes:
- A commemorative numbered rally board.
- Entry to organised stopping points en route.
- Tulip style route book and list of entrants.
- Personalised certificate of participation for the driver.
- Commemorative solid brass rally plaque.
- Plus the experience of taking part in one of the most impressive displays of vintage, classic, sports and kit cars in the country
The run coincides with the London to Brighton Classic Car Run, with the same start and finish but a different route in between, so there’s plenty to see and be a part of in Brighton.
As well as entry to the run itself, the winner of our prize will also win an overnight stay and a meal for two close to the start point. The overnight stay is on Saturday 2 June with the run itself taking place on 3 June. The total prize value is £350.
To enter the competition, you just need to answer the following question. The closing date for entries is Friday 27 April.
